Penal colony XV, Etching and watercolour on paper, 30x20cm

This series is inspired by the short story In the Penal Colony by Franz Kafka.
The narrative centers on an execution machine that slowly and painfully inscribes the sentence of the crime onto the skin of the condemned.
Following the same principle, the main piece was conceived in a similar manner: each dot was meticulously executed and later etched onto the plate using acid-Etching.
The pieces incorporates the concept of repetition as a mantra, exploring themes related to spirituality and redemption. In this context, repetition serves as a metaphor for religious rituals or meditative practices, evoking the continuous effort toward spiritual transcendence.
