Originally from Portugal, with deep roots in traditional crafts, Julia creates delicate intricate intaglio etchings that are subtle and yet striking in their uniqueness. By juxtaposing the simple gesture of traditional repetitive labour methods (weaving, painting, carving) and a deep sense of artistic meditation, she creates a unique spatial dimension of multi-layered textures that somehow  reveal the beauty of simplicity.

Graduated from University of East London with a BA Hons in Fine Art/Printmaking and from Camberwell College of Arts in 2012 with a MA in Fine Art Printmaking. I have been selected for several prestigious print exhibitions and Fairs, eg the Woolwhich print fair with the Thames side Print studio award in 2021.

My selected method of expression is etching. I enjoy the movement of repetition, utilizing the juxtapositions of different techniques, textures, and translucency. I am very experimental and leave process lead.  Happy accidents form a lot of the narrative in my work. I am inspired by everyday life rituals and nature.  My artworks are held in private collections throughout Europe and the UK.
